The Artist:
I am a ceramic sculptor and painter whose work is shaped by living with and learning from indigenous and historical communities around the world. Under their guidance, I collect and process the natural pigments they have used for generations in spiritual practice, ritual body painting, art, and textile dyeing.
These ancestral pigments become both paintings on canvas and the painted surfaces of my sculptures. My sculptures depict the ancestors, deities, spirits, and people of the communities from which these traditions originate.
Through this work, I explore the relationship between material culture, spirituality, and identity while honoring the traditional knowledge embedded within these enduring artistic practices.
