The Artist:

I am a ceramic sculptor and painter whose work is a direct result of living with and learning from indigenous and historical communities around the world. Under their guidance, I collect and process the natural pigments their people have used for hundreds, often thousands, of years in their spiritual practice, ritual body painting, art, and textile dyeing.

Using these ancient pigments, I create both paintings on canvas and the painted surfaces of the sculptures that accompany them. The sculptures depict ancestors, deities, spirits, or living community members, while the accompanying painting subtly echoes its form.

Each piece I create is imbued with not only raw material, but a cultural significance and spiritual depth that can only be achieved through full immersions.
